Phil Supports Opposition Debate Alongside 7 Parties Calling on the UK Government to Tackle Refugee Crisis

Phil threw his support behind a debate held in the House of Commons on 9 September 2015 during which seven political parties united to call on the UK Government to do more to help those refugees arriving in Europe from the Middle East.

The debate was led by SNP Westminster Leader Angus Robertson MP on the SNP Opposition Day, and the motion put forward by the SNP calling for more support for refugees by the UK government was backed by Labour, Plaid Cymru, the Liberal Democrats, SDLP, the Greens, and Ulster Unionists.

Commenting on the debate, Phil said:

“I was happy to see the degree of cross-party support at this debate. The UK Government has a moral responsibility to do more to help refugees.”
