Phil meets with Glenboig Primary students to discuss Global Citizenship

Phil was delighted to visit Glenboig Primary School on Friday, 23 October 2015 during their Global Citizenship Week.

Glenboig Primary has been a recipient of the Unicef UK Recognition of Commitment Award for their work regarding children’s and human rights, and is a designated Rights Respecting School. They have previously organised community collections for aid to Syrian refugees in Calais.

During the visit, Phil discussed children’s rights, the work the students have done to support Syrian refugees, the school council elections, and the work of an MP.

Regarding the visit, Phil said:

“I have been hugely impressed by the work that Glenboig Primary and Laura Davidson, the Global Citizenship Coordinator, have done to encourage students to engage with Global Citizenship.”

“I was heartened to see the empathy the students have for Syrian refugees and the effort they have put in to do what they can to aid those in need.”
