About

Over the last two years I have represented the constituency of Coatbridge, Chryston and Bellshill in Westminster as a Member of Parliament. I have focused on issues that have affected constituents such as benefit cuts, animal welfare, worker's rights, equality as well as many others.

I have also been appointed as a member of the Public Accounts Select Committee. The Public Accounts Committee is the oldest Select Committee in the House of Commons, it is responsible for overseeing government expenditure and exists to ensure government spending is cost effective and carried out in a transparent, honest manner. During my time on the Committee, I played a part in scrutinising the spending of many government departments in areas such as defence, benefits and apprenticeships.

Prior to working as an MP, I held senior positions in the oil and gas industry. My experience working for a large, politically driven industry gives me insight into the larger issues affecting our economy and society. I have used my past experience to highlight issues such as fuel poverty and analyse energy policies.

I was born and raised in Coatbridge and have strong family roots in the area. I still currently live in Coatbridge with my wife and three children.

I am currently the SNP candidate for this constituency for the upcoming General Election and hope to be re-elected so I can continue to support the area and its residents.
